Prince Philip Health Update: Duke ‘Struggling, Visibly Frailer’ Since Sandringham Crash
Prince Philip is reportedly struggling and has lost a considerable amount of weight following his recent car accident in Sandringham.
Rob Pattinson, a journalist for The Sun, spoke with his source who said that the Duke of Edinburgh looked frailer after he was pulled from the wreck. The incident visibly shook the 97-year-old, and he said this in the letter that he wrote to one of the victims Emma Fairweather.
“The idea he may have hurt someone would mortify him. He’s faced criticism for not being in touch with victims sooner. But anyone who has been in a crash knows for legal reasons you have to be so careful about apologizing and making contact,” the source said.
Norfolk police are expected to interview Prince Philip regarding the accident in the coming days. Depending on the information that he will share, the police force will decide on his fate by the end of the week.
Queen Elizabeth II’s husband resigned from his royal duties in 2017. At that time, reports swirled that the Duke’s health is no longer at its best. However, Prince Philip proved time and time again that he is a real trooper. He managed to recover from his hip surgery last year and was able to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19.
Prince Philip also made it to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on Oct. 12. However, Prince Philip no longer attends the other royal engagements with the members of his family.
For instance, he skipped the Christmas Day church service in Sandringham this year. He also did not attend the Royal Ascot and the Trooping the Colour last year. But Prince Philip is regularly photographed horse riding on the grounds of Windsor.
At the age of 97, he is also able to drive in and around Sandringham, and he sometimes goes around without any companion, unlike his wife. On June 10, he will celebrate his 98th birthday.
