Prince Philip made the cheeky comment regarding Queen Elizabeth II having two birthdays.

In the book “The Royals” by Kitty Kelley, the author revealed Prince Philip’s comment during his tour of the United States for the charity Variety Clubs International. While there, the Duke of Edinburgh was asked about his wife’s two birthdays.

“Don’t ask me to explain why it is that she has an official birthday in June when her proper birthday is in April. You’ll just have to accept it, like cricket, pounds, shillings, and pence, and other quaint British customs,” he said.

Her Majesty was born on April 21, 1926, but she also celebrates her June 8 birthday. The latter was the selected day in some Commonwealth nations on which the monarch’s birthday is celebrated in those countries.

According to Kelley, reporters were amazed by Prince Philip and every city he went to, he received massive press coverage. The 97-year-old retired royal was reportedly able to raise money for charity. When he returned to London, he was convinced that the palace needed the British version of a Hollywood press agent.

In related news, Prince Philip also made headlines this week after it was reported that he was fearful of the world’s fast-growing populations. During his interview titled, “His Royal Virus Prince Philip,” Prince Philip was asked to share his views on what he thinks were the most serious issues faced by conservationists worldwide over the next 20 years.

“Ninety-five percent of the whole Atlantic rain forest in Brazil has disappeared in the last hundred years. There is simply nowhere for these animals to live… At the basis of it all is this colossal increase in the human population, it is one of the living species of the planet but it’s reaching plague proportions,” he said.

Prince Charles and Prince William also opened up about their similar concern for the matter during their respective interviews. Prince Charles was particularly worried about the overpopulation in Lagos, while Prince William was concerned about Africa’s rapidly growing human population.
