Prince Philip, Sarah Ferguson Caught In 'Sticky Situation' Causing Duchess' Balmoral Exit
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Philip were caught in an awkward incident.
According to Francesca Specter, a journalist for Daily Express, the Duchess of York and the Duke of Edinburgh were caught in a "sticky situation" when both visited Queen Elizabeth II in Balmoral. Ferguson reportedly arrived in Scotland with Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice. Unfortunately, she had to leave the Queen's estate earlier as Prince Philip was set to visit his wife.
It has been reported that Prince Philip doesn't want to be around Ferguson. In fact, sources told royal biographer Katie Nicholl that Prince Philip "can't bear to be in the same room as Ferguson."
Due to Ferguson and Prince Philip's obvious effort to avoid each other, there are speculations that they may cause family friction at Princess Eugenie's upcoming royal wedding. Apparently, the 97-year-old royal has not forgiven and forgotten Ferguson's scandal.
"I am told that she has still not been forgiven by her former father-in-law for the infamous 'toegate' scandal of 1992. Fergie, who at the time was still married to Prince Andrew, was pictured on a sun lounger having her toes sucked by 'financial adviser' John Bryan," Katie Hind, a journalist for Daily Mail, wrote.
A number of royal experts believed that the scandal caused Ferguson and Prince Andrew's split. It was reportedly the last straw and the reason why most of the royals are cold toward the Duchess of York.
"She was famously photographed with her financial advisor and she was wearing a bikini in some garden in the south of France and he appeared to be sucking her toes," royal biographer Penny Juror said in a documentary. "She was at Balmoral when those photographs came out. The family came down for breakfast and there was Fergie in this shocking scene and that was the end."
However, in a past interview, Ferguson insisted that the reason she and Prince Andrew broke up was due to lack of time spent together. According to her, she only saw her then-husband 40 days a year.
"My deal was that I was marrying my man, who happened to be a prince and a naval officer," Ferguson said. "But what I got was not the man, I got the palace and didn't get him."
