Prince William reportedly had a hand in Carole Middleton’s sudden interviews amid Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s alleged rift.

Brittany Vonow, a journalist for The Sun, claimed that the Duke of Cambridge gave the OK to Carole to give two high-profile interviews following the mom of three’s 15-year silence.

“Getting to know a bit more about his maternal mother-in-law, the future Queen’s mother might help dispel the public perception that royal in-laws should be invisible,” a source said.

During her interview with Good Housekeeping, Carole said that she still asks for her children’s advice when it comes to her party business.

“My children have all worked for the business. Catherine started the First Birthday brand – she chose the products and looked after all the imagery and the catalog production. Pippa set up the blog, as we didn’t have one. James came up with the idea of personalized cakes and got them off the ground for us. Because they all grew up with me working, Party Pieces has been very much part of our lives and what we talked about. I still ask their advice and say, ‘what do you think of this?’” she said.

During her conversation with The Telegraph, Carole admitted that she used to worry about losing her family when her three children have their own lives. But she’s grateful that they have actually become closer than ever.

“I’m definitely hands-on. I don’t find it complicated. My biggest fear was that I’d lost my family, but we’ve stayed close. There are times when they say, ‘Can you do this or that?’ and I can’t quit. But they like the fact that I work…” she said.

But Richard Kay, a journalist for Daily Mail, questioned the timing of Carole’s two interviews since the Duchess of Cambridge is rumored to be feuding with Markle.

“Her decision to suddenly grant not just one, but two, softly-softly magazine interviews have left courtiers baffled and also a little uneasy. Is this, they wonder, the start of some new public relations strategy, or it’s simply a sign of the business-savvy drive of the very practical Mrs. Middleton?” he wrote.
