Prince William May Not Have Married Kate Middleton If Diana Were Still Alive
Prince William never had the chance to introduce Kate Middleton to his mom, Princess Diana. After all, the Princess of Wales had already been dead for over a decade when the royal couple decided to tie the knot.
On the online forum site Quora, royal fans are convinced that Prince William wouldn’t have ended up marrying Middleton if Princess Diana was still alive.
Humaira Masud, a graduate from the University of Surrey, said that some decisions that the Duke of Cambridge made would’ve changed if Princess Diana was still around to guide him.
“It’s difficult because Diana being alive may have changed many of the decisions William has made. Would he have gone so far away to university? Would he have even gone to university?” Masud said.
Prince William met Middleton at the University of St. Andrews when they were still students. If Princess Diana encouraged her eldest son to study elsewhere, the Duke of Cambridge might not have the chance to meet the Duchess of Cambridge.
However, Masud also said that even though Prince William and Middleton’s relationship would’ve changed if Princess Diana is still alive, the royal fan is confident that the royal couple would still end up together.
“ Their relationship would have played out differently, but I do think it would still have been a serious relationship. Diana, most likely, would have been happy that her son had found a love to hold onto and I think she and Kate would have got on… Also, Diana could have given Kate some helpful tips on how to deal with the paparazzi and press intrusion,” the royal fan said.
Meanwhile, other royal fans said that Prince William is a mature and independent man who can make his own decisions. As such, regardless if Princess Diana is still alive or not, if he really wanted to marry Middleton, he would have still encouraged his mom to support his decision.
