Prince William praised his grandmother and grandfather.

The Duke of Cambridge recognized the efforts of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip when it comes to public service in the upcoming BBC special “A Berry Royal Christmas.” The future king even highlighted the difference Her Majesty made in what was considered a “man’s world.”

“My grandmother [became] Queen at a very young age, in the days when it was a man’s world, it was very difficult for her to make a difference,” Prince William said.

“And she’s done it. In her own very unique, distinct way - my grandmother and my grandfather together are the epitome of public service.”

Queen Elizabeth II was only 25 when she succeeded her father in the throne. Her Majesty is the British’s longest-reigning monarch and she has racked up more than 600 patronages since she was crowned in 1952.

Earlier this week, Queen Elizabeth II joined Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Kate Middleton at the NATO reception. The royal family also met Donald and Melania Trump who were present at the event.

However, Prince William didn’t make it because he was in an official visit to Kuwait. Some questioned why Middleton didn’t join her husband when they usually travel together. Prince William carried out the royal tour on his own because it was intended to be a solo trip as requested by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

“The Duke of Cambridge will visit Kuwait and Oman between Sunday 1st December and Wednesday 4th December. This visit is at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and will be His Royal Highness’s first official visit to both countries,” the official statement read.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also not present at the event since the couple are still on their six-week break from their royal duties. Their absence was not considered a deliberate snub to Donald, whom they are rumored to be at odds with because they were not expected to attend the event.
