Princess Diana may have been dead for 21 years, but her memory still lives on through her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

In fact, the royal siblings have done a wonderful job at making sure that their mom will never be forgotten across the world. Prince William was just 15 years old when Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris. Prince Harry was just 12 years old at that time.

But the Duke of Cambridge made sure to remember his mom when he got engaged to Kate Middleton. Prince William decided to give Middleton the same engagement ring that Prince Charles gave to Princess Diana. Princess Diana herself picked the sapphire ring from a Garrad’s catalog.

When it was his time to get engaged, Prince Harry also remembered Princess Diana by giving Meghan Markle a ring that featured two diamonds from his mom’s collection. The diamonds are believed to have come from Princess Diana’s brooches.

And even though Middleton and Markle never met Princess Diana, they have gotten close to her in spirit through the stories that their husbands might have shared with them.

On her wedding day, the Duchess of Sussex carried a bouquet of flowers that featured Princess Diana’s favorite forget-me-nots. Prince Harry himself picked the flowers from a private garden at Kensington Palace.

In 2011, Prince William also included his mom in his royal wedding to Middleton by having a hymn from Princess Diana’s funeral played at their service. And last year, Prince William, Middleton, and Prince Harry visited a special memorial garden at Kensington Palace to commemorate Princess Diana’s 20th death anniversary.

The garden was reportedly one of Princess Diana’s favorite places in the palace so it was dedicated to her memory last year.

And when Prince William and Middleton welcomed their second child, a girl, they decided to name her Charlotte Elizabeth Diana as a tribute to Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II.
