Prince William Reportedly ‘Furious’ After Statement Describing Palace As ‘Prison Walls’ Was Exposed
Prince William reportedly became furious after his private statements about the palace and his position in the British monarchy were exposed. The dad of three shared his thoughts in confidence with Tony Blair not knowing that the latter would capitalize on them for his book.
According to Daily Star, Prince William and the former prime minister forged a sort of confider-confidante relationship with each other. But their bond didn’t last very long.
Blair, later on, released his book “A Journey,” where he exposed all the private discussions that he had with the second in line to the throne. Upon learning about what he did, Prince William and the entire royal family became furious.
One of Blair’s most shocking revelations about Kate Middleton’s husband was how Prince William described the palace as the prison walls of his destiny.
“He knew now, if he didn’t before, what being a prince and a king meant. For all the sense of duty, the prison walls of hereditary tradition must have seemed too high a price to pay,” Blair wrote.
The former prime minister also talked about Prince William’s real feelings when Princess Diana died. At that time, he was just a teenager. According to Blair, the dad of three confided in him about how angry he was at being made to play a public role while he was grieving for the Princess of Wales privately.
“I had also spoken to William who was not only still grieving but angry. He knew, rationally, why the week between Diana’s death and the funeral had to be as it had been… But he felt acutely the conflict between public position and private emotion,” Blair wrote.
A source told Daily Star that he thought his conversations with Blair would be kept confidential and had he now known this he wouldn’t have confided in him. Members of the royal family do not usually talk about their feelings and they don’t also show their emotions when they’re out in public.
