Princes William, Harry Didn’t See Princess Diana’s Body After Her Death? Netizens Discuss
Prince William and Prince Harry learned about their mom Princess Diana’s passing through their dad, Prince Charles. The royal siblings found out about the late royal’s accident the morning after her death.
Prince Charles traveled to Paris to pick up Princess Diana’s remains, and he transported them back to London. His sons were present at their mom’s funeral, but a royal fan claimed that the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex never got to see their mom’s body after her death.
On the online forum site Quora, royal fan Eileen Wood said that there was no viewing of Princess Diana’s body even for her sons, and there’s a reason why this was the case.
“What kind of sadist would have let those children see their mother’s mangled body? Weren’t they traumatized enough having to see the mangled car on every television and newspaper front page?” she said.
Wood also said that Prince Charles decided to pick up Princess Diana’s remains because he wanted to make sure that no one else would be able to take photos of the late royal. He was joined by his security team during his trip.
Meanwhile, some royal fans accused Prince Charles of picking up Princess Diana’s remains so that she won’t be criticized by the latter’s supporters. In the book “The Diana Chronicles,” royal author Tina Brown said that Prince Charles was distraught after he learned about the tragic news. However, he also felt like this because he was worried about himself.
“He knew, instantly, that this was going to be a terrible thing, that…he will be blamed, that they [the royal family] will be blamed, for the death of Diana,” she said.
According to the pilot who transported Princess Diana’s body back to London, Prince Charles seemed composed throughout the flight. Even though he was grieving, he didn’t forget to thank Graham Laurie.
“It was fairly obvious, even on that day, that he was going to do anything he could to carry on bringing up the boys [Prince William and Harry] in the right way,” he told The Telegraph.
