Prince William ‘Sad’ About Damage To Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Relationship Amid Split
Following reports suggesting a rift in Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship, royal insiders have claimed the Duke of Cambridge recently opened up to his friends about his brother and Meghan Markle’s plan to distance themselves from the royal family.
Reports suggesting an issue in the brothers’ relationship initially surfaced after Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018. The Duke of Sussex reportedly felt his brother didn’t support his marriage with the former “Suits” star.
Now that the couple has announced their plans to focus on becoming “financially independent,” sources told The Sunday Times that Prince William is hurt by the growing distance between himself and Prince Harry.
“I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives, and I can’t do that anymore. We’re separate entities. I’m sad about that,” William reportedly told his friends.
“All we can do, and all I can do, is try and support them and hope that the time comes when we’re all singing from the same page. I want everyone to play on the team.”
Insiders have revealed the senior royals are still hashing out the details regarding Meghan and Prince Harry’s future. “There is a range of possibilities for the family to review which take into account the thinking the Sussexes outlined earlier in the week,” a source told People.
“As we have said previously, making a change to the working life and role of the monarchy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex requires complex and thoughtful discussions. Next steps will be agreed at the meeting.”
The royal insider insisted Queen Elizabeth plans to take her time before making any major decisions regarding Harry and Meghan. “The request for this to be resolved ‘at pace’ is still Her Majesty’s wish. The aim remains days not weeks,” the source explained.
“There is genuine agreement and understanding that any decision will take time to be implemented.”
