Prince William 'Worried' Every Conversation With Harry Would Go Public: 'There's Lack Of Trust'
KEY POINTS
- Prince William and Prince Harry have trust issues with each other
- The Duke of Cambridge is worried his conversations with his brother would reach the press
- Meghan Markle's issue with Kate Middleton may have fueled Prince William's frustrations
Prince William has trust issues when it comes to engaging in conversations with his younger brother, Prince Harry, according to a report.
The Duke of Cambridge was asked last week about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's racism allegation in their interview with Oprah Winfrey that he denied. At the time, he said he would talk to Prince Harry. They have already spoken, but he is worried that their conversations would reach the press, according to an insider.
"There’s a lack of trust on both sides which makes moving forward very hard," a source told Vanity Fair. "William is now worried that anything he says to his brother will be plastered over American TV."
The revelation comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's pal, Gayle King, shared an update about them after their interview with Oprah. King said on "CBS This Morning" Tuesday that they have already started communicating, but their discussions were "not productive."
"Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father, too," she said. "The word I was given was those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation."
Several netizens called out King for what she said on the show because they felt that it was supposed to be a private conversation. They were worried that sharing it would affect the royals' future talks, with one saying it was "invasion of privacy" and others criticizing King for "shoddy journalism" and being "pathetic" for "broadcasting details of a private conversation."
Aside from leaking their conversation, royal author Penny Junor believed that Markle's revelation about her issues with Kate Middleton may have fueled Prince William's frustrations. In the interview, Markle denied making Middleton cry and said, "The reverse happened."
"William is very protective of Kate and can get very angry," Junor told People. "For Meghan to name Kate in a negative light is worse than being attacked himself."
While Prince Harry has already talked to his father and brother, no one in the royal family has reached out to Markle after the interview, King added. The broadcaster said that the Sussexes wanted the royals to intervene and stop the unfair and inaccurate false stories especially those with a racial slant. Although their issue has not been acknowledged, they want to move forward because they want healing in the family.
