Monday marked the first day Prince William officially manned an East Anglian Air Ambulance helicopter after months of training. And while talking to reporters about the day, the prince also revealed the loving pet names uses to describe his two children.

The 33-year-old prince described his daughter Princess Charlotte as “a little joy from heaven,” the Mirror reported. Prince William also admitted while it was fantastic having a daughter, it also entailed more responsibility to look after two children. It also seems that the duke’s son, Prince George, is a handful since Prince William described him as a “little monkey.”

Despite the challenges of raising two children, the Duke of Cambridge still finds family life fantastic and thrilling. The prince called wife Kate an “amazing mother” and said he is proud of her.

Prince William started his work as an air ambulance helicopter pilot early Monday. The duke’s shifts are expected to begin at 7 a.m. for morning shifts or 4:30 p.m. for late shifts. The Daily Mail said during the early months on the job, the royal is expected to complete normal shifts with the East Anglian Air Ambulance to allow him to adjust to the work. Afterward, he will be completing two-thirds of the normal shift to allow for royal duties.

The duke also told reporters he wants to balance doing a job that is equally and incredibly important with his royal duties. Prince William added he understands his royal duties may require him to spend more time away from work, but at the moment, he is enjoying the challenge of trying to balance the two and spending time with his family.

Meanwhile, July is a busy month for Prince William. Aside from celebrating Princess Charlotte’s christening July 5, the duke also attended various royal engagements. From paying tribute during the 10th anniversary of the July 7, 2005, London bombing to viewing a Royal Air Force Flypast at Buckingham Palace, William’s appointment book was jampacked. The busy royal schedule was announced after a report inVanity Fair described him “lazy.”

However, Prince William was still able to spend quality time with his wife when the two went on a Wimbledon date last week.
