Prince William’s Surprising, Trendy BAFTAs 2018 Accessory Revisited: Will Duke Rewear It?
Prince William used a surprising and trendy fashion accessory during the BAFTAs 2018. But will he wear it this year?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have already confirmed their attendance for the 72nd British Academy Film and Televisions Arts (BAFTA) awards in London on Sunday. This is the third time that the couple would be gracing the event together.
In 2018, Prince William caught netizens' attention after opting to wear a pair of trendy eyeglasses for the event. Twitter users were surprised after seeing the duke’s specs, and many asked when he started using this.
"Since when did Prince William start wearing glasses?" Twitter user babaloo smithers wrote.
"WHAT ARE PRINCE WILLIAM’S GLASSES?" another user asked.
Meanwhile, Peckham Rye Eats praised Prince William's fashion accessory, describing it as “trendy specs.” It remains unknown if Prince William will wear it again to the BAFTAs this time.
However, this wasn’t the only time that he wore a pair of specs. In 2015, Prince William sported the same eyewear during the Annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2016, he also donned the same accessory at Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.
In related news, the Duchess of Cambridge sparked controversy during the same event last year after deciding to wear a dark green gown by Jenny Packham. Most of the guests adhered to the "unofficial black dress code" in support of the Time’s Up campaign against sexual harassment.
According to reports, the duchess opted for that color because royals were expected to be politically neutral. However, critics argued and insisted that objecting to sexual harassment was not political.
Middleton’s outfit to the upcoming event remains an interesting topic among her fans. There are speculations that Middleton may wear another Jenny Packham or Alexander McQueen dress to the upcoming event because these are the brands she has used in the previous years.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be joining the event because they have no connection with it. The palace had already confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't be making an appearance at the BAFTAs 2019.
Prince William and Middleton have been gracing the event for three years now because the Duke of Cambridge is the BAFTA president. He will also be presenting the Fellowship Award.
