Prince William’s Trips To Africa Are Significant For This Reason
Prince William’s trips to Africa are said to be significant because of the causes he has been trying to promote.
Victoria Arbiter, a royal commentator and author, penned an article about the Duke of Cambridge’s recent trip to the country. She noted that Prince William’s passion for protecting African wildlife really resonates with her.
The dad of three visited Namibia, Tanzania, and Kenya to help raise awareness regarding the catastrophic effects of the poaching epidemic ahead of this year’s conference on the Illegal Wildlife Trade.
According to Tusk, an organization that Prince William is a patron of, illegal poaching is the fourth most lucrative international crime next to drugs, arms, and human trafficking. Animals are reportedly being poached or killed in an attempt to produce fake medicine and gauche trinkets.
“Like his father and brother, Prince William is an avid conservationist. Invariably, when he pushes his anti-poaching agenda, his critics are quick to raise his enjoyment of recreational hunting,” Arbiter noted.
And in Prince William’s speech at a reception for the Royal African Society ahead of his trip to Africa, he said, “Too many brave rangers are tragically killed each year by poachers. Communities see their tourist livelihoods threatened. And the proceeds of the illegal wildlife trade fund broader criminal networks and threaten security. This is why I am committed to doing what I can to help end this terrible, global crime.”
Meanwhile, Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, was unable to join him on his trip to Africa. The Duchess of Cambridge is still on maternity leave after giving birth to Prince Louis on April 23.
Prince William revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge is jealous about his trip because she wants to be there with him. But the mom of three also wants to have some time away from taking care of their three children.
Middleton was not expected to join Prince William on his engagement even if she’s not on maternity leave because the cause is not something that she is part of.
