Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly guarded with their relationship to their dad Prince Charles.

Nick Bullen, a producer who has worked with the royals on multiple documentaries, told The Royal Box that the siblings are guarded with their relationship with their dad because of the press attention that their late mom, Princess Diana, received.

“So much press has been about the boys and Diana that they’re quite guarded about their time with their dad,” he said (via Express).

Prince William and Prince Harry have given royal fans insights into their lives, but they are also obviously protective of what they say about their father. After all, whatever comes out of the Dukes’ mouths may or may not be interpreted by their supporters correctly.

In the documentary for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, Bullen also talked about the royal siblings and their relationship with Prince Charles.

“They properly relaxed, they said things they’d never said before about their father. People suddenly thought, ‘these boys have got a great relationship with their dad.’ The more they can allow people a little glimpse of the real relationship, the better it is for them ultimately,” he said.

In BBC’s documentary “Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70,” the Duke of Sussex praised his dad for stepping in on his wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19. Prince Charles walked the Duchess of Sussex down the aisle when her dad was unable to do so due to a recent heart surgery.

“I asked him to and he immediately knew it was coming. For him, that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and show his support. And he’s our father so of course he’s going to be there for us,” he said.

Prince Charles’ guarded but close bond with his sons have impacted his relationship with his grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. He will be blessed with another grandchild when Markle gives birth in the spring of 2019.
