Princes William, Harry's Alleged Long-Standing Rift With Prince Charles Explained

Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly have a long-standing rift with their dad, Prince Charles.

There are rumors suggesting that the Prince of Wales didn't approve of his sons being so open about their mental health following the loss of their mom, Princess Diana. While this makes Prince William and Prince Harry more relatable it also makes them less regal.

Meanwhile, Tom Bower, suggested that there's another reason why the dukes are not on good terms with their father. The "Rebel Prince: The Power Passion and Defiance Of Prince Charles" author insisted that this is due to Camilla Parker Bowles. Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly didn't like Prince Charles' second wife.

"In public, they are all smiles, but behind the scenes, they do not like Camilla and see little of each other," Bower said. "This is partly because of what happened to their mother Diana, but also because Charles spent so little time with them when they were younger."

"It's ironic because Charles complains about the way he was brought up by his parents, but the same thing has happened with his own children," Bower continued. "They have drifted apart because he is so self-obsessed with his own emotions and problems. I'm sure that Harry had a wild period because Charles was absent for much of the time."

Bower also added that Prince Charles found his oldest son to be "lazy and not doing enough." There were reportedly fraught conversation between the father and son. The heir to the throne is also allegedly jealous of her son's popularity.

"William resented being told what to do and was not keen, which deepened the rift with his father. But the Queen and Prince Philip also told him that he and Harry had to increase their royal duties, and so they have done – as we are seeing now," Bower added.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana had a rocky marriage. In fact, the People's Princess confessed that their union was difficult because there were three of them. In the past interview, Princess Diana also confessed how Camilla broke her heart before her wedding to Prince Charles and how the Duchess of Cornwall ruined their honeymoon.

However, Prince Harry had nothing but good words to say to her stepmom. He also defended Camilla from her bashers.

"To be honest, she's always been very close to me and William," Prince Harry said. "She's not a wicked stepmother. Look at the position she's coming into. Don't feel sorry for me and William, feel sorry for her."
