Princess Anne provided Queen Elizabeth II with help and support amid Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship crisis.

During a previous interview with Daily Mail, one of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s courtiers told the publication that Princess Anne was a mainstay in Her Majesty’s life especially after Princess Diana gave a controversial interview to Martin Bashir.

“Anne was a mainstay… Whenever the Queen saw her or just talked to her, she went calm. Anne was the main one holding her mother together during the crisis,” the source said (via Express).

While the Queen was struggling to deal with the fallout of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage, she received daily goals from her only daughter. However, it was also revealed that Princess Anne did not necessarily like Princess Diana.

In the documentary “Paxman on the Queen’s Children,” royal reporter Richard Kay told host Jeremy Paxman that Princess Anne had no time for the late Princess of Wales.

“She didn’t like the way she went about her duty and the way she used the cameras and the media to promote herself, in her eyes. Anne had a much more traditional approach to the monarchy and royal duty,” he said.

Princess Anne is also known to be very dedicated to her royal duties even though she doesn’t receive as much recognition as the other members of the royal family. Last year, she was named the hardest working royal due to the number of engagements she took part in.

In related news, Princess Anne has always had a good relationship with her mom. During her interview on BBC’s “The Queen: Her Commonwealth Story,” Princess Anne summed up her mother’s commitment to the crown.

She said that Her Majesty’s predecessors had traveled enormously so the Queen followed in the footsteps of those before her. After the Queen’s dad died, she continued traveling during her career so she barely spent time at home with her children.
