Princess Beatrice’s Wedding ‘Hanging In The Balance’ Due To Queen Elizabeth
Princess Beatrice’s wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is reportedly hanging in the balance because of Queen Elizabeth II.
Even though the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson doesn’t need to seek the Queen’s approval to tie the knot, Princess Beatrice still has to make sure that her grandmother would be able to attend her wedding.
Since the Queen has a very busy schedule, it is Princess Beatrice’s responsibility to check Her Majesty’s diary and to pick a date when she can definitely attend. Royal author Ingrid Seward told Hello! Magazine that the couple needs to find a gap in the Queen’s diary before they make an announcement.
In the past, the Queen and Prince Philip attended the weddings of Princess Beatrice’s cousins. The monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh were also present at Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, 2018.
Meanwhile, the Queen may always be present at her relatives’ weddings, but the same cannot be said about royal family christenings. The 93-year-old didn’t attend the christening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son on July 6.
Royal correspondent Roya Nikkah told the Sunday Times that Her Majesty was unable to attend Archie’s baptism due to her prior commitments. Even though the monarch has already passed on some of her royal duties to the other members of the royal family, she still has a very busy schedule.
Last year, the Queen also skipped the christening of Prince Louis. At that time, it was reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton have been informed early on that Her Majesty wouldn’t be there.
Prince Louis was baptized on July 2018, and the Queen and Prince Philip were at Norfolk at that time.
“The Queen & Philip have just spent the weekend together in Norfolk. He is remaining there while she travels back to London today. Her decision not to attend was mutually agreed with William & Kate...,” royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted.
