Princess Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles were believed to have had an amicable relationship with each other years ago. But royal fans are convinced that this wasn’t the case.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans said that it would be impossible for the two female royals to be friendly towards each other when Princess Diana was aware that Camilla was having an affair with her fiancé, Prince Charles.

Christine Lee, who loves learning about the British monarchy, said that Princess Diana actually hated Camilla and with good reason. But no matter how angry she might have been, the Princess of Wales shouldn’t have exposed dirt on Camilla and Prince Charles to the entire world.

“Over the years, the world came to despise Camilla while Diana, who was also guilty of cheating, was beloved the world over. While hatred should not be justified, Diana was the one married to Charles and so of course, Diana was in the right,” she said.

Susanna Humphreys said that it would be unusual for the wife to be friendly towards the mistress.

“Diana appears to have hated Camilla as she had been a mistress before and after the marriage. Diana does not seem to have been able to understand that hers was an arranged marriage – so long as a couple of children were born then nothing mattered,” she said.

Humphreys also said that Princess Diana was jealous of the fact that Prince Charles was more comfortable with Camilla than when he was with her. The Duchess of Cornwall understood Prince Charles’ need for solitude at times and she gave him space. Princess Diana was unable to do the same for her then-husband.

Meanwhile, Lee said that if Princess Diana were still alive today, it is possible that she would have already forgiven Prince Charles and Camilla for their affair. In fact, she may now have a friendly relationship with Camilla for the sake of her children and their grandchildren.
