Princess Diana was head over heels in love with Prince Charles, her ex-boss, Mary Robertson revealed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a fairytale wedding. About 750 million people watched their union on TV and 2,000 people were invited to St. Paul’s Cathedral. However, Princess Diana was only allowed to invite a limited number of people and she didn’t miss to invite her former employee.

Robertson, an American businesswoman who hired Princess Diana as nanny before her engagement to Prince Charles, was only one of the 100 guests of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom. She shared some details about Prince Charles and Princess Diana on Channel 5’s “Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding.” According to her, Princess Diana was very much in love with her groom.

“Diana was head over heels in love with Charles. I just assumed things were going to work out beautifully,” she said.

“She was just so appealing and warm and beautiful, it never occurred to me that he wouldn’t learn to love her.”

Robertson said that she paid Princess Diana approximately $4.95 an hour for looking after her child. Over time they grew closer to each other.

She added that Princess Diana came over and was interviewed. But what she liked most about the princess was how good she was to her son. She added that Princess Diana was “so natural, down to earth and just beautiful.”

She confessed that she had no idea who Princess Diana was when she hired her on the spot. Robertson believed that Princess Diana was “head over heels in love” with Prince Charles.

However, she noted that the royal family only accepted her because she was shy and quiet. They expected her to be the person who would “stay in the background and stay quiet, and follow five steps behind Prince Charles.”

Meanwhile, according to Penny Junor, Princess Diana was already “fatally damaged” even before she met the future king. The royal author said that she was a little more than a child and was totally unprepared when she married Prince Charles. She had also gone through a number of losses and rejections following her parents’ divorce.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship was already rocky days before their wedding. The heir apparent reportedly put her in a “terrible state” when she found out about his farewell gift to Camilla Parker Bowles.
