Princess Diana Looked Stunning In Navy Blue Met Gala Dress From 1996
Princess Diana wowed the crowds when she attended the Met Gala in 1996.
At that time, the late Princess of Wales donned a navy blue figure-hugging dress with black lace trip designed by John Galliano for his first-ever collection for Dior. Dec. 9, 1996, Met Gala, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, was the first and only Met Gala that Princess Diana was able to attend.
In one of her photos from the event, Princess Diana is standing at the center of the room with a huge smile on her face. Her short hair is tucked behind her ears and she only has light makeup on. Princess Diana accentuated her navy-blue dress with matching earrings and a pearl necklace.
A second photo shows Princess Diana having a blast at the party with her good friend, Liz Tilberis. Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom is just one of the two members of the royal family to ever attend the Met Gala.
Last year, Princess Beatrice made her debut at the annual ball. While there, she wore a regal purple Alberta Ferretti gown, which she paired with her bejeweled hair accessories. As of late, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have not yet debuted at the prestigious event.
But this may change in the near future because Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, recently told “Today” that the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge are her dream guests at the Met Gala.
“I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge together. They would be my dream couple… They could leave their husbands at home, it’s the two of them that I want,” she said.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible to see both female royals at this year’s Met Gala because Markle is scheduled to give birth anytime soon. Middleton, on the other hand, is also busy with her three children and her royal engagements.
