Princess Diana reportedly wanted to keep her popularity afloat even after she and Prince Charles divorced.

In the Netflix documentary “The Royal House of Windsor,” Princess Diana’s ex-private secretary, Patrick Jephson, revealed how the Princess of Wales maximized opportunities to use her popularity.

“She was the star of every dinner party and every event. The ambassador’s cocktail party became the most social activity in the city that year. British ambassadors, British enterprise saw Diana as a powerful new weapon for UKpIc, an international face for a traditional institution combining the best of both worlds. Duty and beauty,” he said (via Express).

At one point, Princess Diana also expressed her desire to pursue a political role following her divorce in 1996. Jephson drafted a letter on behalf of Princess Diana that she sent out to officials.

“I do hope my short tour will have made some contribution to your aims. Please be in no doubt of my gratitude for the opportunity, such a visit gives me to broaden my own horizons, or my readiness to give my support to our foreign policy in any way you think would be helpful,” she wrote.

According to Jephson, Princess Diana was an asset to British diplomacy. Unfortunately, the mom of two passed away in 1997 following a fatal car crash in Paris.

In related news, Princess Diana also made headlines on Monday after it was reported that her stepmom Raine Countess Spencer’s grave at London’s North Sheen cemetery only had a wooden cross on it two years after her death.

Spencer’s eldest son, William Legge, express his concern regarding the delay in providing his mom’s grave with a headstone.

“Good heavens! Henry and Charlotte are dealing with this. They haven’t been in touch to discuss any delay. I must get in touch with them to find out what’s happening,” he said.

Henry Legge, Spencer’s youngest son, added, “My sister Charlotte is dealing with commissioning a special gravestone for my mother – as she did for my father when he died. This is taking much longer than we anticipated.”

Spencer passed away in 2016 at the age of 87.
