Princess Diana Went On An 'Unusual' First Date With Surgeon Hasnat Khan

Princess Diana found heart surgeon Hasnat Khan very attractive.

When the late royal was 35 years old, she met the 37-year-old doctor from London and told her friend that Khan is drop-dead gorgeous. Khan was also attracted to Princess Diana, and he didn’t waste any time making the first move.

Years ago, the surgeon revealed how he asked Princess Diana to go out on a date with him, and he was surprised that she said yes.

“I mentioned that I needed to go to my uncle’s house in Stratford-upon-Avon to pick up some books. I did not think for one minute that she would say yes, but I asked her if she would like to come with me. I was very surprised when she said she would,” Khan told police officers.

Even though Princess Diana and Khan hit it off in an instant, the couple struggled to sustain their relationship because the surgeon wasn’t used to all the media attention that they received. He said that the only place where he and the late royal could spend time with each other private was at Kensington Palace.

Princess Diana, on the other hand, seemingly enjoyed the time she spent with Khan. After all, she got to experience what it’s like to lead a normal life since Khan is not a royal.

There was a time when Princess Diana and Khan went to the pub together and the mom of two asked if she could order their drinks because this is something that she has not done before.

“She really enjoyed the experience and chatted away happily to the barman. On another occasion, we had to queue to get into Ronnie Scott’s jazz club. She later said she loved queuing as you get to meet so many people,” he said.

As their relationship progressed, Princess Diana and Khan started talking about marriage. However, he decided not to push through with his proposal because he wasn’t ready to lose his privacy completely.
