Princess Eugenie's Name Has A Hidden Meaning: What Is It?
Princess Eugenie was named after past royals.
The next royal bride has three names: Eugenie Victoria Helena. According to bookmakers William Hill, they didn't expect the Duke and Duchess of York to choose these names. In fact, they had not taken any bets on it, Express reported.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson opted to name their youngest daughter after Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, the granddaughter of Queen Victoria who became the Queen of Spain. The name Eugenie means "nobility" in Greek.
On the other hand, her first middle name was inspired by Victorian royalty which means "victory" in Latin. Her second middle name is taken from Princess Helena, Queen Victoria's third daughter. In Greek, the name Helena means "light" or "bright."
Princess Eugenie admitted that a number of people struggled to pronounce her name correctly. She joked that she's used to it. "Whenever we used to meet foreign people who were struggling with it, my mum and I would help them by saying 'It's like use your knees,'" the royal said. "But whatever. I am now used to every pronunciation."
Princess Eugenie is set to marry her longtime boyfriend Jack Brooksbank in October. At the moment, she is working with her her mom, Ferguson, on the wedding preparations.
According to an insider, the Duchess of York is very involved with the event. Princess Eugenie's parents are teaming up for the reception, which will be held at their shared home at Royal Lodge in Windsor Castle.
"Sarah and Andrew are helping to organise the evening party," a source told Vanity Fair. "The plan is for a marquee to be set up in the grounds and dancing late into the night."
"Sarah is being very hands-on, but in a great way, and Eugenie wants her mum to be a big part of it all and will make sure Sarah is included in every aspect," the insider added. "Sarah is bringing a very eclectic and exciting guest list to Windsor."
Princess Eugenie wants to have a marquee for her wedding reception. This is a budget option for many Britons who want a stately feel closer to their home. However, according to Emily Hodgkin, this is risky, as October is one of the rainiest season of the year.
