Priyanka Chopra is opening up about how becoming a mother has changed her.

Chopra, 40, graces British Vogue's February 2023 cover, and in her interview with the magazine, she shared how her perspective on life changed after she and her husband, Nick Jonas, welcomed their now-1-year-old daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.

"It's been 20 years of hustling and working at breakneck speed. I've always been like, 'What's the next thing?'" she told the magazine. "But now I feel I have a center, a sense of calm, because every decision ends up being about her."

The "Quantico" star noted that she is always keeping her baby close and has "seven cameras" in Malti's room.

"There's really nothing more satisfying than seeing her face as soon as her eyes open," she said.

Jonas and Chopra surprised fans when they announced in January 2022 that they welcomed their first child together via surrogate.

Following their announcement, the first-time mom was bombarded with misogynistic accusations. Chopra's critics alleged that she was "outsourcing" her pregnancy or was "renting" a womb out of vanity. Some claimed the actress acquired a "ready-made baby," implying her maternal attachment wouldn't be the same as the surrogate mom.

"I've developed a tough hide when people talk about me," Chopra admitted to British Vogue. "But it's so painful when they talk about my daughter. I'm like, 'Keep her out of it.' I know what it felt like to hold her little hands when they were trying to find her veins. So no, she's not going to be gossip."

She added, "I've been really protective of this chapter of my life with my daughter. Because it's not about my life only. It's hers too."

Chopra also opened up about Malti's health issues associated with being born a full trimester before her due date.

"I was in the OR [operating room] when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand," Chopra told the magazine of her daughter. "I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God's work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don't know how they even found what they needed [in her tiny body] to intubate her."

Malti spent more than 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit before finally being able to go home with her parents in May 2022.

An anonymous source told People at the time that being able to bring Malti home was the "perfect Mother's Day gift" for the couple, who was reportedly "thrilled" that their baby was finally home.

Chopra marked a new first with her baby girl when they posed together for one of the photos featured in British Vogue.

The snap, which the actress shared via Instagram Thursday, featured Chopra and Malti both in red as they pose in front of a red backdrop. The actress held her daughter close, keeping her face hidden.

"Another one of our many firsts together...," Chopra wrote in the caption.
