KEY POINTS
- "Project Zomboid's" latest version introduces a plethora of major improvements
- The game multiplayer has been rebuilt for a smoother and more stable experience
- The sounds, graphics, animation and gameplay balancing are improved in the new update
Steam’s most hardcore zombie survival game, “Project Zomboid,” just got its biggest update yet, featuring massive improvements to core gameplay systems.
“Project Zomboid” players will now be able to play the new and stable version of the Build 41 update, which includes an extensive list of features that long-time fans have been waiting for. Here are some of the most notable changes fans can look forward to in the new update.
Improved Multiplayer Experience
The game’s multiplayer component has been remade from the ground up for a better experience overall. Now that Build 41 is stable, multiplayer sessions of up to 16 players can be hosted, allowing groups of friends to suffer through the apocalypse together. Expect less lag and smoother overall gameplay compared to previous builds.
Better Animations And Movement
Almost every type of movement animation has been improved, resulting in a more immersive experience. Players can now run, spring, vault, sneak, reload and more with polished animations that greatly add to the overall feel of the game.
Updated Combat
Combat in Build 41 will feel totally different from earlier versions of the game. Melee combat now requires a bit more precision than before and firearms should be easier to use thanks to an updated targeting system while aiming. Guns now also spawn more frequently, which should help in horde situations.
Changes To Zombies
Zombies have been upgraded to feature new idle behaviors. They can now be seen eating fresh corpses, stumbling into walls and other ambient behavior. Players can now encounter zombies wearing clothes relevant to their surroundings; expect to see zombified cops in police stations, construction workers in construction sites, prisoners inside jails and so on.
New Map And Environmental Storytelling
Build 41 implements the new Louisville map, a large city filled with loot and even more zombies. As players explore the game’s maps, they may stumble upon some new randomized storytelling elements like a swarm of zombies feasting on a corpse, smashed blockades, abandoned party sites, or other similar scenes that breathe a bit of life into the zombie apocalypse.
Admittedly, “Project Zomboid” is reserved for the most hardcore survival game fans. For those craving a challenging experience, this may be the perfect game to try out.
