With the release of Alpha 20 and the influx of new and returning players, now might be the best time to start playing the newly-updated zombie apocalypse game called “7 Days To Die.” The update certainly brought a lot of new features to the table, and everyone might find themselves scratching their heads on what to do now or how to proceed with their first week in the game.
Here are some important tips that beginners need to know to survive in this zombie survival sandbox game.
POIs And Secret Stashes
Nearly every single structure in the world, whether it be a suspicious shed or a gun store, has one stash room filled with useful items and supplies. With that being said, try to prioritize reaching these stashes when looting establishments. They typically contain generous amounts of food, medicine, ammo and weapons.
Resource Gathering
Certain resources like Short Iron Pipes, Iron Bars, Steel Bars and Mechanical Parts can be obtained by destroying specific objects in the environment.
Pipes can be obtained by destroying sinks and toilets. Leather chairs can be picked up and dismantled to yield Leather. Street lights can be dismantled with a Wrench to get Steel Bars. The list goes on.
Players are encouraged to experiment with different tools to see the types of resources they can get from the environment.
Skill Point Distribution
Players should specialize in one of the many skill trees while taking only certain perks from other trees. Pick a weapon type to specialize in, then dump as many points into their related perks as early as possible to make exploration easier.
Getting at least one point in the Advanced Engineering skill is highly recommended as it’s required to craft Forges. Spending a few points for stamina-related perks is also advised.
Base Defense
For the first week, players should hunker down in a house near the first trader for quick and easy access to supplies and quests. Explore as much of the starting area as possible to get supplies and XP, then reinforce a pre-built house on the fifth or sixth day of the week.
Buildings with concrete walls like banks, town halls or restaurants are great for holding out on the first horde night. Make sure to reinforce any weak spots with spikes or extra wall layers and try to plan an escape route for when things go sour.
