KEY POINTS
- Last year Sony announced that the PS5 is scheduled to arrive sometime in the holiday of 2020
- A new report claims that Sony's next generation gaming console might arrive earlier than anticipated
- Following reports from several sites, Sony Interactive Entertainment released an official statement
Sony Interactive Entertainment might release its next generation gaming console earlier than anticipated, according to a new report. A throwaway job description may have given away the release date of the PS5. Interestingly, Sony issued an official statement in connection with the recent report.
A Resetera user named Much recently shared a new set of interesting information related to the PS5. On the Japanese job-hunting site Rikunabi, the user found a job listing, which comes with a description revealing that the PS5 is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 2020. The listing underlines the month, which aligns with the earlier confirmed holiday 2020 release window.
The listing, which appears on an official job recruitment site, bears that the source of information is authentic and legitimate. However, this could also be a mere placeholder like what most companies do. But, it is interesting to know that there is a chance that the PS5 might be available to fans earlier than the usual Nov. 2020 assumption.
Additionally, the Oct. 2020 release date of the PS5 seemingly aligns with the rumored full reveal allegedly scheduled in Jun. 2020. Sony Interactive Entertainment could unveil the PS5 next month and announce the Oct. 2020 release date. The announcement would provide the Japanese gaming titan a few more several months to mass produce the next generation gaming console for worldwide distribution.
However, Sony Interactive Entertainment, a few hours earlier, released an official statement related to the job listing that gives away the release date of the PS5. According to the company, the Oct 2020 PS5 release date is incorrect. A Sony representative told Famitsu, a Japanese gaming site, earlier that the job listing was a mistake in the part of the recruitment site.
The official translated statement reads, "It was due to a mistake in the recruitment site, not the content that was written by our company." That seems to indicate that the job listing is real, but the release date remains unconfirmed for now. We've yet to hear back from an EU Sony rep, but will update our story again if we do," the Sony representative clarified.
