KEY POINTS
- Sony has not yet fully revealed the PS5
- Even SIE President Jim Ryan said that many major PS5 features are not yet unveiled to the fans
- A game developer seemingly revealed one of these unannounced PS5 features in a recent interview
Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan earlier revealed that lots of major PS5 features are yet to be announced. He also underlined that features already known to fans are but the foundation of the future tech of Sony’s next-generation gaming console. It appears that one of these unannounced features is recently revealed by a top game developer.
PS5 Unannounced Feature
LKA, the developer behind the upcoming title “Martha is Dead,” recently praised the PS5 and seemingly confirmed one of its unannounced features. The game developers were recently interviewed by the Official PlayStation Magazine, where they were all praises about Sony’s next-generation gaming console.
In one part of the interview, Luca Dalco, LKA Studio Head, shared that the cutting-edge technology of the PS5 enabled them to create impressive visuals. He added that the PS5 was very helpful, especially for developing game environments for horror titles. It was easier for them to create more frightening and more realistic environments because of the PS5, Luka shared.
He also shared about the ability of the PS5 to allow up to 4096px/m of Texel Density. The term could be new to most fans, but it refers to the relationship between various textures on different meshes in 3D scenes. Wccftech explains that “A higher density allows for better details in polygonal renderings, such as ripples in cloth that can be rendered in 3D rather than in flat shapes. As already mentioned, this makes a big difference at high resolutions.”
Other PS5 Details
The Studio head also mentioned about the ‘exciting PS specs,’ especially the ray-tracing architecture and its added graphical prowess. Luka also underlined the role of the PS5’s solid-state drive that would provide faster loading of high-quality assets. “Martha is Dead” is a first-person psychological thriller from LKA.
Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for Sony to announce the official unveiling of the PS5. There were rumors and speculations since last month that the Japanese gaming giant is planning to hold an event to officially reveal the PS5. However, on the official PS5 website, Sony admitted that it is not yet ready to fully reveal its next-generation gaming console. The PS5 is expected to arrive in the Fall of 2020.
