The Good Humor Ice Cream Truck Is Back And Bringing Smiles And Frozen Treats With A Tweet

The ice cream man is coming!
Soon, the good people of Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington will be able to conjure up ice cream -- with a tweet. Good Humor is relaunching its ice cream trucks with a "Welcome to Joyhood" tour.

According to Advertising Age, the Good Humor trucks left the streets when gas prices rose in the 1970s, relegating the ice cream brand to convenience- and grocery-store freezers. Now, as it attempts to move into the social-media age, a quick tweet to @GoodHumor may bring a truck to you.

The truck has already been spotted around New York, hitting Rockefeller Center's SNY Plaza Thursday.

While Good Humor isn't the first ice cream brand to employ Twitter -- the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck has been using the microblogging platform for years -- this is certainly a welcome development. Meanwhile, its trucks will blast rock 'n' roll rather than traditional ice cream truck music.
Mister Softee has not issued a response to Good Humor's initiative.
