Is Pumpkin Filling In For Mama June Following Crack Cocaine Arrest?
While Mama June is keeping a low profile following her scandalous drug-related arrest with boyfriend Geno Doak, daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon is filing in for her in promoting their reality show.
In case you missed it, Mama June and ex-convict boyfriend Geno were arrested at an Alabama gas station last week after someone phoned the cops about a domestic abuse going on between the two of them. When Police arrived and searched Mama June’s truck, they found a needle, a pipe with residue and a pill bottle that contained “crack cocaine” according to the reality star.
After Mama June and Geno were arrested, the former was released on bail that night while the latter was freed a day later. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Geno was additionally charged with domestic violence with TMZ reporting that he had “threatened to kill” Mama June prior their arrest.
Despite what happened, Mama June and Geno were spotted playing at a casino days later and just ahead of the premiere of “Mama June: From Not To Hot” Season 3. Apart from this, nothing more was disclosed on what Mama June is up to these days.
While Mama June is on the down low, daughter Lauryn Shannon appears to be filling in for her since she’s the one joining sister Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson in promoting their ongoing WE tv show. In the previous seasons, Mama June was pretty hands-on in promoting her show.
Last week, Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo teamed up for the scheduled interviews with different outlets ahead of the show’s premiere. They stopped by OK! Magazine and discussed how Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson has been ignoring Alana. Honey Boo Boo even said that she’s certain her father doesn’t know her birthday.
The reality siblings also chatted with Cheddar and they teased that the all-new season is going to focus more on their “financial problems, family problems and things like that.” In the same interview, Alana opened up about her struggles while doing “Dancing With the Stars: Juniors.” Finally, Lauryn and Alana dropped by Life & Style to answer some questions and share their secrets to their fans.
Ever since news about Mama June’s arrest broke, many viewers expressed their concern over her family, especially Alana, who is only 13 years old. A poll conducted by Reality TV Polls on Twitter showed that fans are torn on who should take care of Honey Boo Boo after what happened. Half of the votes wants Pumpkin to guide her younger sister while the other half wants Sugar Bear to step in and perform his duties as Alana’s father.
