Pumpkin, Honey Boo Boo ‘Didn’t Know About’ Mama June’s Wedding To Justin Stroud

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson were shocked when their mom “Mama June” Shannon revealed to them that she secretly got married.

In an exclusive interview with E! News published Monday, the “Mama June: Road to Redemption” stars opened up about their mom’s surprise wedding to tattoo artist Justin Stroud back in March.

“We didn’t know about it,” Pumpkin, 22, said.

She claimed that Mama June, 42, initially denied that she tied the knot with her much younger beau.

“I actually got a receipt in my PO Box that said she had applied for a marriage certificate. Then I asked her about it just recently. She denied it,” Pumpkin told the outlet.

She continued, “And then eventually she was like, ‘Oh, I got married,’ and we were very, very shocked.”

As for Honey Boo Boo, the 16-year-old admitted that she never thought her mom would get married after all the heartbreak she went through over the past several years. However, the former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star also acknowledged that Mama June has changed.

“It definitely did catch me by surprise because Mama was always one to say she would never get married. But I mean, my mom now, she’s definitely different,” Alana said.

Both Pumpkin and her younger sister have met Mama June’s 34-year-old husband, but they preferred not to comment on how they feel about him.

On their reality show “Mama June: Road to Redemption,” which is on its sixth season, Pumpkin and her other sister, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 25, met Justin for the first time when they drove to their mom’s new place.

Their first meeting did not go well since Pumpkin and Jessica went to their mom to confront her about moving close to their home. Justin showed up in the middle of Mama June and her daughters’ confrontation.

When Pumpkin saw Justin, she couldn’t help but point out the obvious, saying he resembled Mama June’s ex and Alana’s biological father Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson. She even asked if he lost all of his teeth due to drugs.

Speaking of how they are planning to deal with their mom’s marriage, Pumpkin said she and Honey Boo Boo do not want to get involved and plan to just leave their mom be.

“If she feels like we don’t need to be a part of that, then it is what it is,” she said in the interview.

There are rumors that Pumpkin and Alana could be ditching Mama June for their own reality series. The reality stars are reportedly meeting with a top shot later this month to discuss the project, but International Business Times could not independently verify this information.
