‘Quantico’ Star Johanna Braddy Dishes On Shelby’s Season 2 Love Interest
Shelby has been all business in “Quantico” Season 2, but that won’t be the case for long. Although her new gig as Alex’s handler will keep her busy, she’ll have some time for romance soon. While attending PaleyFest: Made in NY, actress Johanna Braddy revealed that her character will have a new love interest on the ABC drama.
“There’s definitely a new romance, yes, and it’s completely different type of relationship than Caleb,” Braddy told International Business Times Monday night. “It’s very different. It’s not so youthful.”
Of course, that isn’t too surprising. After all, Shelby not only fell for Caleb (Graham Rogers) but also his father Clayton (Mark Pellegrino) last year. Braddy seemed to be hinting at another older or at least a more mature man, but who is the lucky guy? While the “UnREAL” alum wouldn’t spoil that detail, she said it’s “potentially” someone audiences have met before.
The romance has the chance to change her character. Braddy noted that her last “Quantico” romance is part of the reason for her character’s newfound strength this season. “You remember she ended up having an affair with her boyfriend’s dad who is the head of the FBI,” she explained. “I think that situation is really what I’ve drawn upon because I think a woman in that position, you could so easily crumble. Or you just have to come back like fierce and thick-skinned, so that’s the route we decided to go this year.”
A new love interest isn’t going to distract Shelby from traitors, though. She said that the southern FBI agent will start to be suspicious of Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis), who is working with the terrorists. “Yes, that does start coming into play for sure. Something happens,” Braddy teased. “We’ll touch on that a little bit in this [next] episode.”
“Quantico” Season 2 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
