Queen Elizabeth Asked Prince Philip To ‘Shut Up’ During Tour, Claims Source
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly did a shocking thing to Prince Philip during their tour of the United States several years ago.
American writer Susan Crossland accompanied Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh during their 1976 tour and revealed that the monarch asked her husband to shut up due to her frustration.
In the book “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Our Times,” royal author Susan Bradford quoted Crossland, who said that the Queen asked her husband to shut during one instance wherein Prince Philip was sounding off his ideas about something.
But according to Crossland, the Queen did not mean to offend the 97-year-old retired royal. Rather, it is just the Queen’s natural personality. And when bad weather struck the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Queen reportedly showed great aplomb.
“When Britannia ran into a Force 9 gale two days out of Bermuda, en route to Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, the Queen exhibited great aplomb at dinner when most of the party, including her husband, were ashen-faced. The Queen rose to say goodnight, resting one hand against the handle of the open sliding door which at that moment began sliding shut, Britannia having failed to take a breathing space before heaving over again,” she wrote.
According to Crossland, Her Majesty also gripped the handle firmly as she pressed her back to the door and moved with it as it slid slowly shut. Her chiffon scarf also flew in the opposite direction.
In related news, the Queen also made headlines this week after it was revealed that she rehired her trusted royal aide to keep an eye on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Her Majesty reportedly appointed Sir Christopher Geidt as her permanent lord in waiting. According to a source, Lord Geidt’s wise counsel is valued by the monarch. Geidt will also serve as the chairman of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, so he is expected to work closely with Markle.
