Queen Elizabeth Didn’t Treat Princess Diana ‘Poorly’ But Prince Charles Did

Queen Elizabeth II did not treat Princess Diana poorly, but her son Prince Charles did.

According to previous reports, the Queen once described Princess Diana as a “loose cannon.” In the online forum Quora, a royal follower said that the Queen treated her daughter-in-law appropriately unlike the future king.

“I don’t think QEII [Queen Elizabeth II] deliberately treated her poorly. I think Charles as a much older, mature man, as her husband and father of their children, as the future King, treated Diana far more poorly than the Queen ever treated Diana,” Jade Worthington, a social worker, wrote.

Meanwhile, another online user commented that Princess Diana was a “troubled person.” The netizen said that Princess Diana stubbornly ignored royal protocol and had a stubborn “my way or the highway” attitude.

Princess Diana would reportedly wait in the Queen’s waiting room and dart in when the monarch was done with an appointment to complain about Prince Charles. The late Princess of Wales would weep and weep and the Queen did what she could do, but Princess Diana was unhappy.

Thomas Dalton also believed that there were no issues between the Queen and Princess Diana in terms of how the former treated the latter.

“I don’t think most people in the UK believe she was particularly cruel to Diana. Relationships with mothers-in-law are often quite difficult, especially when the marriage breaks down, and your mother-in-law being the Queen isn’t going to help, but the idea that she was cruel seems to be just tabloid gossip,” Dalton wrote.

According to Kayla Keegan, the Princess of Wales and the Queen had their own set of differences because Princess Diana was “continuously misunderstood.” In the documentary “Diana: In Her Own Words” Princess Diana went to the Queen for advised but the latter only told her that “her marriage was loveless” and the monarch was “less than sympathetic” to her.
