Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly furious and disappointed after knowing about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decision.

The monarch wasn’t happy after learning that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to quite their royal roles. Buckingham Palace issued a statement and admitted that the discussions with the couple will be “complicated” as they “carve out” their new roles in the royal family.

Piers Morgan interpreted the palace’s statement. According to the English broadcaster, the monarch is “bloody furious.”

“BREAKING: Buckingham Palace says ‘it’s complicated’. Translation: the Queen's bloody furious,” Morgan wrote in a tweet.

Royal correspondent Rebecca English of Daily Mail also wrote that the Queen was furious and disappointed especially since the Sussexes came up with their dramatic decision without consulting Her Majesty, Prince Charles or Prince William. The monarch, heir apparent and second-in-line to the throne only learned Prince Harry and Markle’s plans when it was announced via television news channels.

English said that a royal source told her the Queen and the members of the royal family were “deeply disappointed.” Another insider said that the royals were “shocked, saddened and downright furious” at the couple.

Sources within the palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Markle’s announcement was a shock to the palace because it was a “personal statement” and the family members were not consulted.

One aide slammed the couple for their behavior, saying that the people had bent over backwards for the Sussexes. They got the wedding they wanted, the house they desired as well as the office, money, staff and tours they requested. Prince Harry and Markle also got the support of the royal family.

“It’s deeply unfair to the Queen who doesn’t deserve to be treated this way. It is a shoddy way to treat her. The family understands that they want to do something different and is perfectly willing to help them. People are just devastated,” another source told English.

Prince Harry and Markle announced on Instagram that they are quitting as senior members of the royal family but will continue to collaborate with the Queen, Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge. They also stated that they will work to be financially independent.
