Queen Elizabeth Hoped This Would Heal Prince William, Prince Harry Feud
Even Queen Elizabeth may not be getting her wish when it comes to whether or not Prince William and Prince Harry will repair their allegedly fractured relationship.
According to a new report from In Touch Weekly, Queen Elizabeth hoped that whatever feud has erupted between her grandsons would have healed by now, specifically after Prince Harry welcomed his first child, Archie Harrison, with Meghan Markle in May. However, a source tells the publication that getting older and starting their own families may very well be the thing that keeps the brothers apart.
“The Queen hoped that the arrival of Archie would bring her grandsons together,” a source told the magazine. “Whilst they still talk, their relationship isn’t back to how it used to be.”
“The boys are both married and have families of their own so it’s only natural that they’ve drifted apart,” the source added, admitting that they don’t need each other the same way as they used to. “The brother have leaned on each other and looked after each other since their mother died. But now they have their own families, they no longer rely on each other as before.”
News of an alleged rift between the brothers has been around for a while, specifically since the announcement last fall that they were splitting their households. After news recently broke that they and their wives, Kate Middleton and Markle, were also splitting up their Royal Foundation charity, rumors of a problem reignited.
The charity was allegedly split up, now becoming the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, because the two women didn’t really see eye-to-eye on how to handle the day-to-day operations of it. As a result, the decision was made to separate their households there as well, in order to accommodate the different visions.
Still, while the two women have also been at the heart of rumors, there is still reports that the problem lies with the brothers and that their feud may even go back as far as when they were still young children and their mother, Princess Diana, was alive.
According to the late Princess of Wales’ former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, Prince Harry was often jealous as a child of the attention his older brother would receive as the future king, and Princess Diana herself once revealed to a friend that she and Prince Charles tried to do everything they possibly could to make sure that the brothers knew they were equal in their eyes.
“Charles and I worked so hard to ensure both boys receive equal amounts of our time and love; others in the family seem to concentrate on William,” she reportedly said at the time.
