Queen Elizabeth II Accidentally Reveals This Adorable Portrait With Her Great-Grandchildren
Queen Elizabeth II accidentally revealed an adorable portrait of her great-grandchildren when she unveiled a new painting of herself in Windsor Castle.
The photo, which is placed inside a silver frame, shows Her Majesty and Prince Philip bonding and laughing with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Isla Phillips, Savannah Phillips, and Mia Tindall.
In the snap, the Queen is cradling Princess Charlotte on her lap, while Prince George sits in between his great-grandparents. Isla stood beside the monarch, while her older sister Savannah stood beside the Duke of Edinburgh. Tindall stood behind Prince George in the picture.
Latifa Yedroudj, a journalist for Express, noted that the great-grandchildren of Prince Philip and the Queen looked considerably younger in the photo, which means that the snap was taken a few years ago.
The Queen’s adorable great-grandchildren are oftentimes seen together during some public engagements. For instance, they were present at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding on Oct. 12. They also attended the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19.
Savannah and Prince George also stole the show at this year’s Trooping the Colour when the former covered the latter’s mouth while watching the fly past. Princess Charlotte also shared a sweet moment with Kate Middleton after she fell from the stool while standing at Buckingham Palace’s balcony. The Duchess of Cambridge immediately came to her daughter’s rescue and comforted the 3-year-old.
In related news, the Queen also made headlines this week after it was revealed that her outfit in her new portrait has a significant meaning. In the painting made by Nicky Phillips, Her Majesty is wearing a dark green velvet robe and pearl earrings.
On her left breast is a large white star known as the Order of the Thistle emblem. The star features a silver saltire and a central gold medallion. Upon close inspection, it has been revealed that a motto is inscribed along the green border at the center.
“Nemo Me Impune Lacessit” means “No one harms me with impunity.” The symbol is also the mark of the highest order of chivalry in Scotland, according to Good Housekeeping.
