Queen Elizabeth II Always Brings This Surprising Item During State Visits
Queen Elizabeth II always travels with one item during her state visits.
Kara Godfrey, a journalist for Express, said that Her Majesty doesn’t go on trips without a pair of gloves in her luggage. Since the Queen meets several dignitaries and royal fans during her official visits, she needs to make sure that her hands are protected at all times.
Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator, said, “Given the need to shake hands so often they are used as protection and to stop the spread of infections.”
Other than her gloves, the Queen and Prince Charles also always travel with another surprising item – a personal pack of blood. Harriet Mallinson, a journalist for Express, said that the Queen and Prince Charles’ health are of utmost importance.
“This is in case a blood transfusion should be necessary without Queen Elizabeth’s health being jeopardized. Emergencies will be responded to right away as the Queen’s doctor is always nearby when she travels,” the source said.
Other than the bag of blood, the Queen’s travels also include a bulky medical bag that contains a mobile defibrillator and emergency medicine. The doctor that travels with Her Majesty also searches for the nearest hospital in the area ahead of the trip.
In related news, Phil Dampier, a journalist, previously wrote in his book that the Queen also travels with her own camera. She used to take personal photos during her trip especially when she was younger. The Queen’s first camera was the Box Brownie, which was given to her by her father.
Meanwhile, the Queen was recently spotted on her way to church in Balmoral with the other members of the royal family. Prince Philip joined his wife in the estate last weekend. Prince Philip has been recovering in Sandringham following his hip surgery earlier this year so his sighting last Sunday came as a surprise to fans.
