Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan Markle Developed ‘Closer’ Relationship After This Mistake Happened
Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle reportedly became closer to each other after the Duchess of Sussex refused to follow Her Majesty’s order.
Royal experts Kaitlin Menza and Lisa Ryan discussed Robert Jobson’s new biography, “Charles at 70,” on their Royally Obsessed Podcast. During their conversation, they talked about the time that Markle and the Queen traveled to Cheshire together.
“Apparently, when the Queen and Meghan went on their train trip, the Queen told her aides to tell Meghan’s aides that she would be wearing a green hat to honor the Grenfell fire victims. And Meghan was just like ‘okay.’ And she did not understand that was an order, because how would you understand that’s an order,” Ryan said (via Daily Star). Initially, the palace aides thought that the Queen would be upset at Markle for not taking her order seriously, but the exact opposite happened.
“The Queen was a little baffled that Meghan didn’t wear the hat but that just helped them get even closer. She was like, ‘Oh don’t worry Meghan, I’ll teach you,” the expert said.
In related news, Menza and Ryan also talked about Prince Charles during their recent podcast. The latter said that the positive coverage about Prince Charles may have been at the detriment of his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
“From my understanding, it seems that there was a push to put Harry and William in their place. Charles is going to be the King, it’s not going to skip over him to William as some outlets have suggested. Prince Harry is the number one most popular royal but Prince Charles has never been very popular,” she said.
“It’s interesting that all of this is happening around Charles’ positive press push [for his birthday]. I think it has led to this domino effect where it’s now the case that a little bit of negative press has turned into a whole onslaught,” Ryan added.
Prince Charles celebrated his 70th birthday on Nov. 14. His family and friends took part in his slew of parties at that time.
