Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as the four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations came to an end Sunday.
After the Royal Standard was raised at Buckingham Palace, signaling the Queen had arrived, Her Majesty stepped out onto the balcony wearing a vibrant green double crepe wool dress and coat by her dressmaker Stewart Parvin, People reported.
She paired the outfit with a matching hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan and white gloves and accessorized with a multi-strand pearl necklace and bow brooch, according to the outlet.
The 96-year-old British monarch was joined on the palace balcony by three generations of her family — Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.
In a video shared on Twitter, the thousands of people who had gathered for the jubilee event cheered as the Queen emerged. They can be seen clapping and waving Union Jack flags.
On Sunday, the Platinum Jubilee Pageant closed four days of celebrations to mark the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
The event "saw the story of the Queen's 70-year reign depicted through each of the seven decades, combining street theatre, dance, circus and music and a 21-foot puppet dragon," according to People.
It also featured a military parade involving 2,750 soldiers from the U.K. Armed Forces alongside military personnel from across the Commonwealth Students from across the U.K. also united during the "River of Hope" procession to carry 200 silk flags featuring artwork that depicts children's hopes for the planet over the next 70 years.
The Queen kicked off the jubilee festivities Thursday with an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour, her annual birthday parade.
However, she did not attend the National Service of Thanksgiving, the "Platinum Party in the Park" concert and the Epsom Derby after experiencing "some discomfort."
During a reception held at London's Guildhall by the former Lord Mayor Friday, Middleton told an attendee that Queen Elizabeth was "fine."
"Yes, she [the Queen] was fine, it was just very tiring yesterday," Duchess Kate said, according to PA, adding that the monarch "had had a lovely, lovely time."
