Queen Elizabeth Plans To Lighten Load, Hand First Patronage To Meghan Markle
Queen Elizabeth II is planning to lighten up her load and will be giving Meghan Markle her first patronage.
According to Bhvishya Patel, a journalist for Daily Mail, Her Majesty is looking forward to reducing her workload when she turns 92. The monarch and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are already discussing on what the pregnant royal can handle.
The Queen, Prince Harry and Markle have gathered for tea at Buckingham Palace last week to discuss Markle’s new patronages that reflect the former "Suits" star’s interest in feminism and the arts. The Duchess of Sussex’s new role will be announced in February.
Queen Elizabeth II has already relinquished her association with more than 20 organizations to Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton in December 2016. The Duke of Sussex is the new patron of Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League. The Duchess of Cambridge became the patron of All England Lawn Tennis Club. On the other hand, the Duke of Cambridge became the patron of the Football Association. Camilla Parker Bowles also took over the patron role of Battersea Dogs Home and Barnardo’s.
The Kensington Palace spokesman refused to comment on what patronage Markle would receive from the Queen. However, there are rumors that her first royal patronage could be something related to theatre. The rumors surfaced because Markle was spotted meeting with artistic director Rufus Norris of the National Theatre.
Back in June, Queen Elizabeth II increased her workload by 25 percent compared to last year and invited Markle to join her for a visit to Chester. It was the Queen and the Duchess of Sussex’s first outing together.
During the said visit, the two royals looked friendly and were even photographed smiling and sharing an animated conversation. However, according to an insider, there was actually tension during Markle and Queen Elizabeth II’s first royal engagement together.
The source revealed that Prince Harry’s wife failed to follow the monarch’s instruction. Markle was told by the Queen’s aides that Her Majesty would be wearing a hat. The pregnant royal didn’t expect that she was told to do the same. The Queen was "a little baffled" when Markle showed up without a hat.
