Queen Elizabeth II reportedly has no plans to cut costs despite the rising expenses of the royal family.

The royal family is known for their lavish lifestyle. The monarch has multiple royal residences. Other details about how lavish their lifestyle is are covered in the “Spending Secrets of the Royal Family” documentary.

“Britain's Royal Family is famed for its traditional ceremonies, dedicated service and lavish spending,” the narrator says in the documentary. “In an age of belt-tightening, their costs keep rising. The taxpayer now gives the Queen more than £70million ($87 million) every year.”

Royal biographer Katie Nicholl commented on the royals family’ budget. According to her, “royal residences are incredibly expensive to run and the bills really are eye-watering.”

Several experts shared their thoughts on how the royals spend their money and for them, Her Majesty has no plans to cut costs. In fact, the Queen doesn’t put a limit to her budget when it comes to her wardrobe.

“There were very specific pieces interesting the Royal Family but there were no budgets,” said royal expert David Sassoon.

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell said that the Queen’s clothes have their own room in Buckingham Palace. She stores them upstairs and handpicks her outfits every morning.

“Her dresser will bring down in the morning two outfits, which are sketched with pieces of material clipped to them so that the Queen can remember whether it’s silk or cotton or wool,” Burrell said.

Meanwhile, royal expert Victoria Howard explained why the Queen has to spend much for her clothing. According to her, it’s not a “look at me thing” but more about the people wanting to see the Queen, so she’s helping them see her immediately with her outfits. She added that it’s also a “power move.”

Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, has also explained why Queen Elizabeth II opts for bright-colored outfits. According to her, the monarch needs to stand out, so that the people can easily spot her and say, “I saw the Queen.”
