Raheem Sterling Close To Chelsea Move; His Weekly Wages Revealed

Raheem Sterling is reportedly close to moving from Manchester City to Chelsea in the ongoing summer window. He is expected to become Chelsea's highest earner ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Sterling is contracted with Manchester City until 2023 but has decided to part ways with the club. The Englishman has agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and now the Stamford Bridge side is working on finalizing a transfer fee for Sterling, reported The Telegraph. The fee is expected to be more than $54 million, which was the amount Arsenal paid for Gabriel Jesus, another player from Pep Guardiola's City.

Thomas Tuchel and Co. are also hopeful Sterling will join them in time as they fly to the U.S on Saturday for their pre-season tour, according to BBC Sport.

It is believed that Tuchel was keen on landing Sterling following the departure of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker was Chelsea's highest earner until last season. He now departed on loan to Inter Milan. After Lukaku, N'Golo Kante was Chelsea's highest earner.

However, Chelsea's co-owner Todd Boehly has agreed to make Sterling the club's highest earner, according to Teamtalk. That means Sterling's salary will be more than the $346,000 a week that is currently paid to midfielder Kante.

Sterling will leave Manchester City after seven memorable years, where he made 339 appearances in all competitions and scored 131 goals, along with 95 assists. Last season, the former Liverpool player spent a significant time on the bench as Guardiola opted to instead start with other attackers such as Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

Out of the 38 Premier League games last term, Sterling featured in only 30 and started only 23 of those. He finished the 2021-22 season, which would most likely be his last in the City shirt, with 17 goals and nine assists in 47 competitive games.

Across seven seasons at Etihad, Sterling won everything but the Champions League. They came close to fulfilling the European dream in the 2020-21 season but ended up losing 1-0, coincidently to Chelsea.
