'Rain On Me' Collaborators Lady Gaga And Ariana Grande Bond Over These Surprising Similarities
As fans wait on the edge of their seats for the music video release of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's collaboration "Rain On Me," the two singers couldn't help but gush over each other and the bond they share.
"one time ..... i met a woman who knew pain the same way i did... who cried as much as i did, drank as much wine as i did, ate as much pasta as i did and who’s heart was bigger than her whole body. she immediately felt like a sister to me," the "thank u, next" artist wrote.
"she then held my hand and invited me into the beautiful world of Chromatica and together, we got to express how beautiful and healing it feels to [expletive] cry!" she added. "i hope this [song] makes u all feel as uplifted as it does for us both. i love u @ladygaga, u stunning superwoman!
Meanwhile, before the audio dropped, the "Stupid Love" singer gushed, "One time I felt like I was crying so much it would never stop. Instead of fighting it, I thought bring it on, I can do hard things. @arianagrande I love you for your strength and friendship. Let’s show them what we’ve got."
"Thank you for reminding me I’m strong, I’m super emotional and love you so very much, I cherish you @ArianaGrande," Gaga continued. "And little monsters, without you I don’t know how I would survive. I’d rather be dry, but at least I’m alive."
Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande released the full audio for "Rain On Me" at midnight with the video for the uptempo techno record being released during the day on Friday. The song is the second single off of Gaga's upcoming sixth studio album, "Chromatica." While the song gives off a happy, fun vibe, it's lyrics are actually really meaningful.
During an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the 34-year-old singer shared,"[Rain On Me] is also a metaphor for tears and for the amount of alcohol I was taking to numb myself. I'd rather be dry but at least I'm alive, rain on me," the 34-year-old singer shared during an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe.
Gaga added that working with Grande on the record helped her through her healing process, even though she initially turned down the 26-year-old's attempts at being a supportive friend.
"When she came into the studio, I was still crying and she was not. And she was like, 'You're going to be OK. Call me; here's my number,'" Gaga shared. "And she was so persistent. She would try over and over again to be friends with me."
"I was too ashamed to hang out with her because I didn't want to project all of this negativity onto something that was healing and so beautiful," she said. "And eventually she called me on my [expletive]. She was, 'You're hiding.' And I was ... and then this friendship blossomed."
