Rapper Webbie Arrested For Domestic Abuse, Choked And Robbed Girlfriend
Webbie is in hot water for allegedly abusing his girlfriend.
On Wednesday, rapper Webbie, whose real name is Webster Gradney Jr., was arrested in Baton Rouge because of a domestic dispute involving him and his girlfriend. The couple was in a hotel room when the incident happened.
Authorities told TMZ that the woman claimed Webbie choked, hit and held her captive in a room for two hours. The cops saw visible bruises around her neck and face, which were bad enough that she had to be taken to the hospital.

According to a local television station WVLA, Webbie physically abused the victim with a closed fist, open hand and a belt. The girlfriend, who was not named, also told the authorities that he pinned her to the ground and pushed his knees to her throat. She was not able to breathe for several seconds. The physical abuse resulted in a fractured nose. She was left coughing and spitting up blood. There were also belt welts found on her thighs and back.
When Webbie was arrested, the 31-year-old rapper complained about some medical issues, so he was first taken to a nearby hospital. Two days prior to the incident, Webbie reportedly consumed marijuana and cocaine and did not sleep much. But the doctors cleared him after an examination, and he was taken to jail right after. “It wasn’t anything major,” Officer L’Jean “Gino” McKneely, said of Gradney’s condition, The Advocate reported. “He was treated and released.”
Aside from hurting his girlfriend, Webbie reportedly stole her cellphone and damaged the hotel room where they were staying. Webbie is now facing several charges, including second-degree battery, false imprisonment, domestic abuse by strangulation, theft and simple criminal damage to property.
This is not the first time that Webbie has been arrested. In 2012, he was detained on counts of simple battery and simple robbery. He was also accused of robbing a woman and kicking her down the stairs. In 2008, he was arrested on counts of felony eluding, driving under the influence and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. His arrest involved a high-speed police chase in Hattiesburg because he did not cooperate immediately.
