Ray J Files For Divorce From Wife Princess Love Amid Pneumonia Battle
KEY POINTS
- Ray J and Princess Love both attempted to file for divorce in the past
- They share two children, Epik Ray, 1, and Melody Love, 3
- Ray J's manager confirmed that he was hospitalized for pneumonia
Ray J filed for divorce from Princess Love in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday. His filing comes amid his hospitalization for pneumonia and marks the third time the couple has attempted to end their marriage.
Ray J and Princess Love tied the knot in 2016 and are parents to Epik Ray, 1, and Melody Love, 3. In November 2019, Love said she would file for divorce from Ray J after he had left her and their daughter stranded in Las Vegas, although Ray J repeatedly denied her accusation at that time.
In May 2020, Love went through with her divorce plans, just after she gave birth to their second child. However, she requested to dismiss the filing two months later.
The "Love & Hip Hop" couple seemed to have reconciled in August after Ray J wrote a sweet tribute for Love’s birthday, but he filed for divorce in mid-September, asking the court to grant them joint custody of their children. At that time, he cited irreconcilable differences as his reason for calling it quits with Love and requested a Los Angeles judge to uphold their prenup.
According to People, Ray J called off the divorce in March and the decision was made “without prejudice,” meaning he or Love could still change his or her mind about the divorce proceedings. Ray J also shared in an interview in February saying, "We're in a really good place as parents, as friends and as people who really just want everything to be right for our kids, for our family, and for us.”
In a separate interview with E!, the singer and reality TV star gushed about fatherhood, saying raising his kids was his top priority. “It’s the most important thing for me, so if I have to sacrifice my happiness for my kids’ happiness, I’ll do that every time, and hopefully, doing that will bring more happiness to me and bring blessings to me because of my intent,” he said.
David Weintraub, Ray J’s manager, previously confirmed that the artist was in the hospital for pneumonia, although it’s “not the contagious kind.” “The doctors wanted to keep him there a couple of extra days to watch him,” said Weintraub. He also revealed that Ray J had undergone multiple COVID tests and all results came back negative.
