Ray J Gets Discharged From Miami Hospital After Battling Pneumonia
Singer Ray J, who had been battling pneumonia, was discharged from a Miami hospital. He will reportedly continue his recovery at home.
William Ray Norwood Jr., popularly known as Ray J, returned home over the weekend. He no longer requires an inhaler or an oxygen machine, People reported.
Last week, the 40-year-old singer was admitted to the hospital and, initially, doctors assumed he had contracted COVID-19, but they later learned that it was pneumonia.
His manager, David Weintraub, told People on Oct. 6 the singer was "in the hospital for pneumonia, but it's not the contagious kind. [The doctors] wanted to keep him there a couple extra days to watch him."
At that time, Weintraub revealed the singer was kept in the COVID wing and went under multiple COVID tests until all of them were negative.
The manager explained Ray J's health went for a toss due to his hectic work life. He explained to the outlet the singer was juggling between his Raycon brand and making new music.
Amid his hospitalization, the singer also made headlines for filing divorce from his wife, fashion designer Princess Love. The 37-year-old fashion designer and Ray J got married in 2016, and they share two kids: Epik Ray, 1, and daughter Melody Love, 3.
After three years of marriage, Love accused Ray J of leaving her and her daughter stranded in Las Vegas. In May 2020, she went on to file a divorce, just after giving birth to their second baby. However, the filing was dismissed two months later on her request.
In September 2020, Ray J said during his "The Real" appearance that he is open to marriage counseling. "I would be up for it. I would be up for whatever it is to make sure that my kids have a strong foundation and have both their parents in their lives 24/7."
During the interview, Ray J also noted he has been spending most of his time at home with his kids, wife, his mother and friends. "It was just a good vibe," he added. "It really was, and I just had to fall back and go, 'Damn, this is a really, really good thing.'"
On the work front, the singer was featured in a movie, "The App That Stole Christmas," which was dropped on Nov. 20, last year.
