‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ NeNe Leakes Reveals Health Scare While Supporting Black Lives Matter

Following the death of Minneapolis man, George Floyd, stars have been speaking out and calling for the end of systemic racism. “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes recently showed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and opened up about how important it was for her and her husband to protest.

Last month, Floyd, an African American man, died while being detained by police. Officer Derek Chauvin, who was filmed holding his knee on Floyd’s neck for over 8 minutes, has since been charged with his death.

To support the protest calling for justice, and the end of racial inequality, NeNe opened up about how she and Gregg struggled to decide whether they were going to protest due to their preexisting health conditions.

On Sunday, she shared photos of herself and her husband holding their signs and marching with other protestors on Instagram.

“My hubby and I both was afraid to compromise our immune system considering his past cancer, and the blood clots I had in my lungs! However, Gregg really felt he wanted to get out and try for a few and let everyone know that no matter what, we stand loud and proud!” NeNe captioned the post.

“Black Lives Matter, and it has ALWAYS mattered. Thank you to everyone out here in the hot sun protesting daily! We love you and support you.”

Over the weekend, NeNe spoke out about celebrities, who were posting their support for the BLM movement on social media but not helping the cause.

“There are people out here acting like/fronting like they are supporting the cause, but they really want you to NOT call them out so they pretend to be involved, pretend to care, but they really treating this like a PR stunt. Stop it! You just don’t wanna be called out,” she wrote in a tweet.

On Monday, a judge granted the prosecution’s motion to set unconditional bail at $1.25 million, or $1 million with conditions.

If Chauvin were to post the $1 million bail, he would have to follow specific terms which include not working in a security or law enforcement capacity, waiving extradition upon his release, not leaving Minnesota, making future appearances, no contact with George Floyd’s family, and surrendering firearms or ammunition and any firearm permit.
