'Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills' Star Kim Richards Arrested, Charged With Public Intoxication After Sobriety Battle In Season 5
TMZ reports that authorities were called to Kim Richards' hotel room about 1:30 a.m. PDT on Thursday, after security alleged she was causing a scene. The police report states that the 50-year-old star of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," who has struggled with addiction in the past, was “unruly” and authorities had to “drag her out” of a bathroom. She is said to have been slurring her speech and omitting a strong odor of alcohol.
Richards was taken to a local police station, where she reportedly kicked on officer. She was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, battery of a police officer and public intoxication. Police issued the reality star a citation and later released her. She is slated to appear before a judge May 10.
The former child star's sobriety was questioned heavily throughout Season 5 of “RHOBH.” Co-star Lisa Rinna became concerned about Richards after she exhibited less-than-normal behavior during a poker party at Eileen Davidson’s home. When confronted about the situation, Richards insisted that she was not drunk. She did, however, admit that she had taken a pain pill from ex-husband Monty Brinson, which she reacted badly to. She maintained this story until the very end, saying she has been sober for three years and has not strayed.
According to E! News, Richards sought treatment in 2011. It remains unclear which facility she checked into. In January 2012, sister Kyle Richards confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that Kim had checked out of rehab. She assured viewers that her sister was “not drinking or partying at all, and is on the road to recovery.”
Neither Kim nor Kyle have released a statement regarding her arrest.
